About

Our many years of combined experience is reflected in the many successful projects that we have completed since our inception in 2006.

Interpretive Museum and Exhibition Design Experts

We’re specialists in the field of interpretive museum and exhibition design, and we’re able to take a project from the seed of an idea through to a fully grown, fleshed out exhibition with the first visitor walking through the door. We always ensure that we achieve the desired quality, meet the timescale, and do not exceed the budget.

Our experience ranges from the development of grant application for the Heritage Lottery Fund through to masterplans and completed projects in museum galleries, listed buildings, visitor centres, heritage sites, country parks, treehouses, and wildlife attractions both in the UK and overseas.

Let’s Work Together

We’re Environmentally Conscious

We consider the environmental impact of every project and review its accessibility for all, whether it’s a printed image or display case construction, we always endeavour to ensure that project specifications are sustainable, affordable and accessible. At the appropriate stage we will advise and assess and recommend the best solutions to achieve the least environmental impact and best accessibility for all.

We’re Well Versed in Conservation

Our conservation experience built up over many years enables us to fully understand and appreciate complicated display issues. Whether this be the need for specialised object or document mount display, controlled lighting, or controlled display case environments.

Our Process

Our small, experienced team will be able to guide you through the development of any project whether it’s large or small. We have a tried and tested four step formula that makes sure ideas, practicalities, sustainability, and desired outcomes are fully explored, leading to the best solution in terms of design and budget.

Behind the Exhibit

With each project we always get ‘under the skin’ to fully understand the subject, we consider in detail the constraints and assess which enables an appropriate design to be developed. We are fully conversant with topical environmental issues, planning requirements, access guidelines and economic considerations.

  • Interactivity

Often interpretation requires interaction to allow visitors to become fully immersed and engaged with a subject, its history, and the personalities behind the story.

Interactivity can take several forms, from ‘hands on’ puzzles and costume wearing, to touchscreen interfaces, allowing for in depth information to be explored. We are adept at providing the necessary skills and services to deliver a wide variety of interactive solutions.

  • Touchscreen

We are able to carry out full design, production and commissioning of software necessary in order to create full functioning interactive touchscreens. Whether these take the form of wall mounted screens, table level or inbuilt units we have successfully completed many exhibits over the years. We also continue to provide ongoing support to clients to ensure smooth working of software and advise on any future enhancements.

  • Audio Visual

Our capabilities include audio visual concept development, storyboarding, script writing, filming, audio recording, studio editing, animation, provision of hardware and installation. We have created a range of programmes to be used with interpretation projects from ‘talking heads, soundscapes and videos to large format projected animations.

  • Hands On

Sometimes the best solution to enable a grasp of an interpretive concept is a simple ‘hands on’ interactive. This might take the form of a touch hole under a flap, a simple jigsaw, rolling cubes or even just putting a hat on and looking in a mirror. Whatever the requirement, we know how important it is to make sure the exhibit is robust, very easy to maintain and does not require specialists to repair.

  • Touch and Smell

An important consideration for the young and to make exhibits accessible to all. Sometimes this can be as straight forward as altering surface finishes or providing objects to freely handle. Equally, various aromas can be introduced which can often be beneficial in setting the scene. These sorts of solutions are cost effective to produce but can have significant impact when telling a story.
